About Me

My goals for this blog is to teach. Given the every day person's skills and availability of gear I will show you how to better your chances of surviving a situation where you might otherwise be helpless. For instance, if you find yourself lost after straying off the beaten path with only a day pack and little supplies. I will teach you how those few items can save your life and better your situation. Please, I encourage you to comment with items that you may have with you and I will provide tips, using those items, that will help you in a survival situation. Don't think that I'm just some kid that watches "Survivorman" and thinks he  can survive the apocalypse, I actually do have quite a bit of experience. I am an Eagle Scout and many of what I know I learned from scouting. I am a member of two venture crews which is basically really high performance boy scouts. After becoming an Eagle Scout I became assistant scout master of my troop and have used my knowledge to help other up and coming Eagle Scouts. In my second year of scouting I was inducted into the Order of the Arrow which is scouting's national honor society and a huge honor. As far as survival I was a director of a program at a scout camp called the John Smith Experience. This program was about surviving like the very first settlers with only supplies that could fit on a couple of row boats and what was available around them. This was a four week experience for me. One thing that has helped a lot in my knowledge of survival is working in the horticulture department at an aquarium. This taught me a lot about plants and which are edible, poisonous, and which have helpful properties. So, many of the skills I have learned I will use to help you and increase your knowledge of what to do in a survival situation.
